Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork.  It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation.  The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body.I use various techniques with my hands, knuckles, and elbows and apply focused pressure on “problem areas” in the body.Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable.Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Stone Therapy

Stone Therapy is a type of bodywork that uses deep penetrating heat and/or alternating cold from specialized stones. The physiological benefits of alternating hot and cold to the body have long been scientifically and medically proven.Stone Therapy delivers a profound expansion and contraction inside your circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms.  This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a form of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women.  Pregnancy is a time in which a woman’s body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical, mental, and emotional changes.  Using various techniques specifically for the new mother, Pregnancy Massage helps alleviate discomforts experienced throughout the pregnancy.  The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the reduction of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation, and relief from uncomfortable digestive issues.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage, because I use my hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. My clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics.  Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

Geriatric Massage

Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.

Active Isolated Stretching

Developed by Aaron Mattes, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic system for improving your flexibility and overall well-being. As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation.

Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of bodywork similar to acupuncture, with the aim of stimulating specific points along the energy lines of the body to establish overall health and vitality by balancing your Qi (energy) flow.  Unlike acupuncture however, with this modality I use my hands to apply pressure to the specific points rather than needling, producing similar therapeutic results.

CranioSacral (SM)

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull. Developed by physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.

Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a disarmingly simple system of acupressure. It lays out a set of 26 "points" along the major energy pathways of your body. If one of your pathways becomes blocked, this creates stagnation in your energy field and leads to illness or discomfort. I use my hands to gently release any blockages in your energy pathways, and restore balance to your entire system. The whole experience is very relaxing, nurturing and therapeutic.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system.  As both a preventative and remedial technique, MLD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet.  Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body.  According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into the feet.  Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Russian Massage

Developed in the former Soviet Union, Russian Massage is considered to be one of the most non-invasive and relaxing forms of massage therapy. Combining aspects of both therapeutic and sports massage, it uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation. As with all forms of massage therapy, open communication during the session is encouraged to make sure you are enjoying the experience as much as possible.

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Massage is a Japanese form of massage. The word Shiatsu comes from two Japanese words - "shi" (finger) and "atsu" (pressure). In addition to the direct stimulation of pressure points along the energy pathways of your body, gentle stretching techniques are applied over a wider area of the body to integrate the point work and encourage the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body.Shiatsu is a meditative healing art that honors the body, mind and spirit.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body.Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle tissue rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Energy Work

Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
